You know, this is, this is like my white grandmother, this Lois, who was raised in like Appalachia. Yes. [00:02:17] Speaker B: Okay. She. [00:02:22] Speaker A: Before we got on, I was telling you a lot about how she was the head of her union at the AT&T, you know, substation there in Greenville, South Carolina, for many years. [00:02:35] Speaker B: A woman with a plan. [00:02:36] Speaker A: Yeah. Here's the thing. My grandmother is not, like, when she tells stories, it. It can go all over the place, [00:02:42] Speaker B: all over the map. [00:02:43] Speaker A: You're just. You're just there. You just strap in. You just go wherever she's going. You follow her lead. In the time that I've known her, she's always been like that. One time over the holidays, I happened to just kind of like, say something about wanting to understand more about her time as the leader of the union. [00:02:59] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:02:59] Speaker A: The clearest I've ever seen her. I'm like, this. This is this woman's purpose. Like, this was her passion, was like. I mean, if there is something that she was gonna tell you from start to finish, that something that she felt strongly about, it was getting in there. She was negotiating for women. [00:03:14] Speaker B: I just love that she was, like, [00:03:16] Speaker A: getting people better hours. Like, she was not around. [00:03:20] Speaker B: Oh, my God. Rosie the Riveter over. [00:03:22] Speaker A: I'm telling you, she had a story about one woman who was, like, in danger of losing her job because she had. She's a single mom, and, like, when she needed to come in for her shifts, like, it was, like, tough with her kids and whatever, and so she was a little late. And my grandmother is head of the union. She went in there and she, like, like, stood between this woman and the. The business leadership, and she was like, I will trade my hours for her. She will continue to have a job. So my grandmother was like, stop saving people's. [00:03:47] Speaker B: I love that. [00:03:49] Speaker A: Yeah, it's my favorite bit of lore for old Lolo. [00:03:54] Speaker B: Love it. Yeah. [00:10:13] Speaker B: What the fuck? I thought he was like just trending towards. Yeah, no, yeah. A moral human being, I guess. Not a moral ethical. [00:10:21] Speaker A: No, no. Okay, listen, a five two man will never be eth. Okay? He's gonna do any. By any means necessary. He's gonna get in there and show his ass. He's gonna try to get Joe Rogan. Yeah, no, no. So anyway, there was a UFC fight between. Between these two men. One is like an older. I think he's been in the game a long time. An older black gentleman who went against this, like, man who looks like he's having meat sweats. I don't even know what his name is. It really doesn't matter. But anyway, at the end of the fight, the. This meat sweat man won and got into Joe Rogan's microphone and said, you know, gave a call out to Jesus, you know, as they do, as Satan tends to do. [00:21:45] Speaker B: And then. And basically she tells Nesta everything. And then. And then eventually she tells her whole family everything so they know she's been living with the fairies. And then she hears something about a neighbor girl, the name that she had given to Rhysand. And the neighbor girl like her whole family was burned. [00:22:04] Speaker A: Bless up. [00:22:05] Speaker B: Yeah. Hate to see it, but they. So then she was like, oh God, Tamlin must be in trouble. Even though he spurned her. [00:22:18] Speaker A: The love of my life is in trouble. I must go to him. [00:22:21] Speaker B: He's like. She's like, I am gonna find my way back there. And. And even me being a 19 year old human girl, I'm gonna save him. [00:22:29] Speaker A: I have no skills. [00:22:30] Speaker B: I have no skills to speak up. [00:22:32] Speaker A: I could skin rabbit. That's about it. [00:22:35] Speaker B: That is it. And so then she. She goes riding into the night. [00:22:42] Speaker A: She throws on her cloak. She's like, forward. [00:22:45] Speaker B: She's like, this is it. So she gets to the Spring court and then realizes that, you know, the. The mob has come in and they're looking for kneecaps. Yeah. They are like. And then she finds Alice, our dear Alice, who's like, get the out of here. He sent you home for a reason. Like, you don't know what this is. [00:23:07] Speaker A: Yeah. And she's like, the minute I can get the out of dodge, I am so make it quick. She's like, start collecting these Mason jars. [00:23:14] Speaker B: She's collecting her wares. [00:23:19] Speaker A: She's great. She's getting her to go bag. [00:23:21] Speaker B: She is like giving her the side eye the whole time. Like, what are you doing here? [00:23:25] Speaker A: You're an idiot. Yeah. [00:23:26] Speaker B: And so. But then anyway, begrudgingly tells Feyre this whole long story about the King of Hybern. And so there was like, there's this evil king and he wanted to take over. Like. Or no humans were the slaves under him. And so then. But then there was a whole story that happened with this woman that has now taken Tamlin. Her name is Amarantha, who's been in love with him, I guess, her whole life. And he's said he's like rebuffed her. And then because of that, she put Madison masks on his face. [00:24:06] Speaker A: Everybody's got to suffer. Sorry, that's just the way it is. [00:24:09] Speaker B: She's like, you will not do that to me. So you're all going to wear costume masks for 50 years. [00:24:13] Speaker A: I mean, that would be enough punishment for me. [00:24:16] Speaker B: And anyway, so. So he. Tamlin has gone under the mountain and basically she had said, okay there. I'm. I'm putting this curse on you that if a woman, if a human woman who hates fairies and kills a fairy and then comes and falls in love with you, if this doesn't happen, then you're coming back and you're. You're gonna be my consort. [00:24:42] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:24:43] Speaker B: And so anyway, so then Feyre's like, well, I can. I could save him. [00:24:50] Speaker A: Like any 19 year old girl. I could save him. I could change him. [00:24:53] Speaker B: Yeah. No, I can change. I can change him. Yeah. I mean, he's wounded. Yeah. He's so wounded. He's so traumatized. Yeah. [00:25:01] Speaker A: He just needs me. [00:25:04] Speaker B: He hates his dad and his brothers. [00:25:06] Speaker A: Yeah. He just needs a little softness in his life. He just needs my feminine energy. [00:25:14] Speaker B: Oh, my God. Meanwhile, she's a 19 year old human and he's like a 400 year old man. Very. [00:25:21] Speaker A: He's been around the block. [00:25:22] Speaker B: He's been around you. [00:25:24] Speaker A: All these people have fought in wars. I. Where the stakes are slavery. And she's like, I'm here. [00:25:37] Speaker B: She's like, I can get him. I'm going to get him anyway. So that's. That takes us to under the mountain where she is going on her way and trying to save her man. [00:25:46] Speaker A: Lord. Our girl Pharaoh. She loves being where she is not supposed to be. There's one thing. If there's someplace she's going to be, it's where she's not supposed to be. So Alice, pop smoke. She goes, goes, I can't do this anymore, girl. This is where my. My journey ends. You gotta go. You gotta go the rest of your way. She finds like a slit in the side of this mountain. I don't even like the word slit, but I mean, that's kind of what it is. Yeah. [00:26:09] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:26:09] Speaker A: She like squeezes her tiny little body through and she finds a couple paths. She chooses one to go down. And like, very quickly she's like, I. I don't know that I don't like that. [00:26:19] Speaker B: Maybe I made a mistake. [00:26:20] Speaker A: I don't like the look of it. And no sooner does she think this, that she's knocked out, which that should be no surprise. I mean, it's gonna happen. It was gonna happen. She drug into sort of the Main area of under the Mountain. It's. It's this big, very ornate, very. But. But very terrifying throne room, essentially. And she. As she comes to, she realizes that she's surrounded by all of these fairy folk. And before her, on this. On this raised die. Yeah. [00:26:55] Speaker B: I don't know what it is. Yeah. Day is the French way to say it. [00:27:00] Speaker A: I love it. We could all be a little bit more sophisticated on this race platform. Is a. A fiery redhead. [00:27:10] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. Wait, you're talking. Is Amarantha redheaded? [00:27:13] Speaker A: Yeah. And because this human girl had not held up her into the bargain to. To tell Tamlin, who, by the way, is sitting next to this woman up on this race platform acting like he's never seen. [00:30:54] Speaker A: First, and you should know that this rolling eyeball belongs to a human being that she tortured. The story there being that the human it belonged to dated her sister, making the sister believe that he was in love with her, when really he was trying to get secret. It's. The bell sounds, if she's gonna last a minute, if she's gonna like, win. Blah, blah, blah. People are betting against our girl. She literally gets knocked down in the mud. Her first opponent is this. If you've ever seen Dune. It's like the big massive, like it's June sandstorm. A sand worm, basically, that comes out and chases her all through like this muddy maze, essentially, that's made of mud, worm excrement, bone, bone fragments, blah, blah, blah. It's a harrowing experience. But our girl Feyre basically figures out that the worm can't see it. Like, since by smell, essentially. [00:40:49] Speaker B: But by the way, how many seconds do you think until I. I would have died? [00:40:52] Speaker A: 5. I wouldn't last. I wouldn't last any longer than that either, because I'd Be like, I'm sorry, I don't see the point in this anymore. And I for sure am not about to roll around and. [00:41:06] Speaker B: Jesus Christ, there's no way. No way. [00:41:11] Speaker A: No. So anyway, she rolls around to hide herself. Meanwhile, she. She, like, creates a plan where she uses these bone fragments to create, like, a ladder so that she can, like, hurl her body over and do this whole thing. It's very hard to imagine in the mind's eye. [00:41:23] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, yeah. [00:41:25] Speaker A: But somebody who helps her in. This is Lucian. God bless. [00:41:28] Speaker B: God bless him. He is a hero, this book. Yeah, I love him. [00:41:31] Speaker A: Honestly, to have read the series so far, I, like, did not really prioritize in my mind how good of a character Lucian. I mean, like, we wouldn't be here right now if it wasn't for Lucian. [00:41:42] Speaker B: No. For sure. No. Yeah. No. Absolutely not. [00:41:44] Speaker A: Stand up with. His name's called show some respect. So anyway, she basically guts this worm by laying a trap for him with bones that when he goes across, it just. Basically just. It disembowels him. [00:42:01] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. [00:42:02] Speaker A: Really great show. Everybody's in shock. Nobody expected this human girl to be as cunning as she is. She gets escorted back there. [00:42:08] Speaker B: We didn't either. [00:42:09] Speaker A: Hell no. I thought that was gonna be the end of the book. Lo and behold, we still probably have about 200 pages left left. Anyway, she gets escorted back to her cell. A champion. [00:42:17] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:42:18] Speaker A: Before she leaves, she hears kind of some of the results of the bedding, and she had at least one person in her corner, which were. [00:42:28] Speaker B: Resound. [00:42:28] Speaker A: Compelled. Yeah. Okay, so now we're back in our cell. Our. She's got, like, a bone sticking out, right? [00:42:36] Speaker B: She's got an infection. Yeah. Bone sticking out of her arm. And then it's. That's infection. Yeah. [00:42:42] Speaker A: So basically, she's sitting there. She starts having, like, hallucinations because, like, the infection is taking over. She's, like, you know, having fever dreams, right. In, like, sparkles, like a dark kind of shadowy figure. And who should it be but our man Rhysand. I'm gonna accept a visit from him every time. [00:42:58] Speaker B: I mean, anytime. I wanted to skip to every visit, every prison cell visit. [00:43:02] Speaker A: That's kind of the book for me. It's his visits, but essentially he agrees to help her by setting her arm well with a bargain. [00:43:13] Speaker B: Okay, but let's talk about what he did that before. [00:43:16] Speaker A: Then he, like, grabs it very painfully. [00:43:18] Speaker B: He, like, shoves it in. Like, he twists the. The bone. Not great. [00:43:23] Speaker A: Not a good start. Not great. I mean, not. Not. No, I. There could have been Another way to go about doing this. But I'm like, everybody's in a desperate situation. [00:43:31] Speaker B: I mean. Yeah. [00:43:32] Speaker A: He's like, we gotta get out of here. [00:43:34] Speaker B: He. He's like, I gotta go save my people. And. Yeah, yeah. This is what this. This girl is. [00:43:40] Speaker A: I gotta be. I gotta be somewhere in five minutes. I gotta. I gotta do this. So basically, he helps, not without hurting her at first, but also creating a bargain with her. Right. That she will basically spend two months out of, two weeks out of every month coming to see him at the. The night court, which, you know, she's only heard nightmarish things about. So she's like, I'm gonna jump the frying pan into the fire, essentially. But I have no choice, place. Lucian's not coming to save me. Nobody's coming to save me. This is my only option. So she agrees to the bargain. Here she is all of a sudden with a sleeve tattoo. Nobody said that was part of the plan. [00:44:17] Speaker B: It's wild. Yeah. All of a sudden she's like. Yeah. I think he. Does he, like, put her to sleep first or something or. What does he do? He, like. She, like, comes to and sees it. [00:44:27] Speaker A: I don't know what's going on. There's some magical haze. Anyway, she's got, like, an evil eye tattoo. [00:44:31] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:44:33] Speaker A: In her palm. [00:44:33] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. [00:44:34] Speaker A: So this is kind of the plan. She's like, I didn't agree to this. I. Which I don't love. I'm like, where. Where is the paperwork? [00:44:40] Speaker B: Yeah. Also, that's another weird eye thing. Yeah. But, yeah. Anyway, no, I don't know. There was no consent at all. Like, he just twisted the bone in her arm and was like, you're going to come and visit me for two weeks. Yeah. Although, wait, he started out with, like. What was it basically like? Oh, the whole three. Three weeks of a month. [00:45:03] Speaker A: Three weeks. She negotiated down to, like, one week, I think. Right. So they got it down to week. They. They bartered back and forth. [00:45:09] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:45:10] Speaker A: But also this. Like, during this time, there are these, like, nightly parties that are going on that Rhysand takes Feyre out, paints her body. [00:45:21] Speaker B: Yep. [00:45:21] Speaker A: Yep. She's wearing, like, a gossamer dress. That shows everything. [00:45:25] Speaker B: I could not figure that out because I was, like, trying to figure. I mean. I mean, I. At first I was thinking it was like some. What are those? Like a toga or something? [00:45:35] Speaker A: A toga party. [00:45:37] Speaker B: She's basically in college. Yeah. [00:45:40] Speaker A: I mean, I probably wore an outfit like that back in, like, 2008 somewhere. Thank God it's not photographed. [00:45:44] Speaker B: Oh, my God. I know. Can you imagine? But anyway, yeah, so I, like, couldn't quite figure that out, but it was like. It did seem like it was like he had her out there naked almost. [00:45:55] Speaker A: He had her out there naked. They would go. They would present themselves to Amarantha on a nightly basis. Meanwhile, again, just, you know, checking in. Her man Tamlin is still acting like [00:46:04] Speaker B: she doesn't exist, but she's like, he. She. At one point, she was like, lucian, what's going on? And she was like, is he under a spell? And Lucian's like, no, She still is. Like, oh, but I love him. [00:46:20] Speaker A: I love him. That's exactly. Every girl situation. They're just being like, he's just, you know, I'm going to. I'm going to wear him down. And people being like, he. He's. [00:46:28] Speaker B: He's. [00:46:28] Speaker A: He's not interested. [00:46:29] Speaker B: Just now that any. Yeah. [00:46:35] Speaker A: Which is a hard pill. She doesn't even really kind of want to believe it. She just keeps, like, pushing past it. [00:46:38] Speaker B: She's like, I'm here. I'm. I mean, I guess I'm here, so I gotta go through it. [00:46:43] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. So anyway, she goes and she's presented and she keeps looking at her man, who does not make eye contact with her. She's basically painted down in these, like, stripes, like a tiger. It's very crazy. [00:46:54] Speaker B: Oh, it's a whole tattoo. It's just the tattoo itself extended to her. [00:46:58] Speaker A: I thought it was painted. It's painted on by those girls. [00:47:00] Speaker B: But it's. But it's that. [00:47:02] Speaker A: Oh, yes, yes, yes. [00:47:02] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. [00:47:03] Speaker A: And so essentially, nobody can touch her because if anybody touches her, then they'll know. [00:47:08] Speaker B: They'll know. Yeah. [00:47:09] Speaker A: And she's basically given fairy wine and she browns out and doesn't remember any of the situations that are going on until she wakes up in her cell drunker. What's. [00:47:19] Speaker B: Brown's out? [00:47:20] Speaker A: It's like a little bit. It's like before you black out, it's like, you know, I'm not gonna remember any of this, but at least I'm not passed out face down. [00:47:28] Speaker B: Right, right, right. [00:47:29] Speaker A: Where somebody has to, like, carry me off. You got a couple of those nights before. I know. You're like, have I ever reached that level before? [00:47:45] Speaker B: That was. That was before our lives converged. That was. [00:47:50] Speaker A: Yes, correct. And so she would just basically get into her own cell. Meanwhile, during this time, she's. She and Rhysand are getting closer. There's a number of different things that go on where basically he's, like, looking out for her and taking care of her. She doesn't even realize it. He's taking her to these parties every night. She's getting, you know, brown and blackout drunk. [00:48:11] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:48:11] Speaker A: She doesn't understand. She doesn't know what's going on. But there's a bigger plan to what Rhysand is doing. The second trial comes around and she is confronted with a reading prompt and unfortunately, multiple choices. Yeah, you're going to hell. So, so basically she gets in front of this. This tablet mounted on a wall, and it gives her a prompt. And she's got three options. There's three levers, essentially, that she has to choose which one she's going to pull. [00:48:49] Speaker B: It's like National Treasure or something. Like, it's like. [00:48:52] Speaker A: It's like Indiana Jones situation. Because basically what's going on is that she looks across this, like, you know, little space that she's in, and separated from her by, like a little wall is Lucian, who's been beat within an inch of his life for helping her, by the way, and who should punish him and. Or whip him. But Tamlin, as we later find out. Oh, right, he's the one who beats his friend. [00:49:15] Speaker B: Right. [00:49:16] Speaker A: The more details that are revealed about Tamlin, I'm like, yeah, pack it up, brother. Pack it up. [00:49:21] Speaker B: Seriously, just find a way to run away. And that's it. [00:49:24] Speaker A: Hate you. Go away. So anyway, so the multiple choice. Yes. So amaranth is like clock's ticking. So anyway, there's this like, massive, like, like claw looking thing coming down from the ceiling. That will crush them. [00:49:38] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hot iron gray. [00:49:40] Speaker A: Yes. That will crush them. If they don't. If she does, she is correctly or she doesn't answer. She doesn't know what this thing says. [00:49:48] Speaker B: We, by the way, we never find out what the question is, is we never. Well, you know why? Because it's from the first person and she doesn't know what the first. [00:49:55] Speaker A: She doesn't know what it is. [00:49:56] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:49:56] Speaker A: Lucy can't see that far. [00:49:57] Speaker B: Lucia and Lucian is like, just pick one. The crate is coming down. It's like three inches from their heads. And he's like, just pick one. [00:50:09] Speaker A: He's like, I just want to go. Just end it. I don't care. So meanwhile, she literally picks wrong every time except for, like, the absolute, until the last minute. And her hand is guided. [00:50:22] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. [00:50:22] Speaker A: She's. She's made to choose the lever, the right lever, because her hand's being guided by some sort of the force tattoo. [00:50:30] Speaker B: You know what's crazy is that, like, she you know, it's guiding her. And then, like, she picks the right one, and she's like, wait, let me go back. [00:50:38] Speaker A: She don't even believe it. She don't even believe it. [00:50:42] Speaker B: It's like time is ticking. [00:50:44] Speaker A: Can't recognize a blessing in front of her own face. And Rhysand is, like, ready to explode. He's, like, standing there looking bored. That's what it said. He's sitting there, but meanwhile, he's like. Like, ready to rage. [00:50:54] Speaker B: What the. [00:50:56] Speaker A: She gets out of. Okay, so anyway, she chooses the right lever in the nick of time. Like, she could feel the heat off the gr. Basically coming close to her face. Lucian's like, thank the cauldron. Think the cauldron. I got to get the up out of here. My best friends beat me. This girl that I tried to help. [00:51:13] Speaker B: God, I'm trying to rely on this girl to get this mask off my face. [00:51:17] Speaker A: And she looking good. This. She gets pulled out of here. She's like, being escorted back to her cell again. And Rhysand's like, you can't read? [00:51:25] Speaker B: Yeah. He's like, I don't know that. [00:51:29] Speaker A: Have you made this a habit? [00:51:30] Speaker B: What's going on? I might not have entrusted you with this whole situation. [00:51:34] Speaker A: He's like, I'm rethinking things. I'm rethinking things. It didn't give him the ick. So for that, I mean. No, I guess he's like, I'll see you tonight. Get your. Get your t. Get your paint on. [00:51:46] Speaker B: Get your gossamer gown on. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:51:49] Speaker A: So they go yet again to another soiree, and in this particular one, she looks over and who should be standing next to her but her suddenly present. Oh, man. That's not her man. Tamlin. And they brush hands. [00:52:05] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:52:05] Speaker A: He then walks off. It goes into, like, a storage room somewhere. She follows him. [00:52:09] Speaker B: By the way, I. I don't like it. [00:52:11] Speaker A: I don't like the optics, but I've been there. [00:52:13] Speaker B: I've been there. I've been there. He looks back and, like, slightly puts his head to, like. Like, go this way. And she's like, I'm following. I'm doing it now. He loves me. [00:52:22] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:52:22] Speaker B: He misses me. [00:52:23] Speaker A: He's chosen me. We will be together for the rest of our lives. Tonight's going to change everything. Meanwhile, tomorrow morning, you know what's going to happen? You ain't going to hear from him. [00:52:36] Speaker B: No, Absolutely. [00:52:36] Speaker A: He's not answering those texts. [00:52:38] Speaker B: He's back with Amarantha. [00:52:40] Speaker A: This is me reliving my 2016 trauma. This is not for the audience. So anyway, they go in the storage room, they start making out. Crazy things are escalating. All of a sudden, things are escalating and not in a great way. It's like, what the is going on? [00:52:57] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:52:58] Speaker A: Meanwhile, all of a sudden, this dark, shadowy figure comes around and it's our man recently. He's like, what in the do y' all think that you're doing? [00:53:05] Speaker B: You guys are bad. [00:53:08] Speaker A: And he's like. And meanwhile inside, he's like, I'm trying to save all of our ass. [00:53:12] Speaker B: Yeah. He's like, jesus Christ. [00:53:14] Speaker A: And you dumbasses don't even know what's going on. On. [00:53:17] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:53:18] Speaker A: And so basically, Tamlin cleans himself up. You know what? This is another instance where I'm like, ew. What? He doesn't like, even stand up to, like, fight for his girl. Like, basically tells him what's up. [00:53:32] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. [00:53:32] Speaker A: And Tamlin like, like starts tucking his shirt in. [00:53:36] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was like very, like, very, like [00:53:40] Speaker A: not a stand up guy at all. And she was horrified. She said, I was horrified to see him do this. Right? So anyway, he tucks it. He cleans himself up, tucks himself in, like, leaves the room. No sooner has he done that, then all of a sudden, somebody else barges in. Rhysand, like, just launches onto Feyre, starts making out with her to create the illusion that it's the two of them that have been making out because Amarantha is there and she's tickled that the two of them are physical. And so she uses that as an example of how humans are not loyal to the Fae that they proclaim to love. So, of course, like, favorite's like, so upset about this, you know, whatever. Rhysand's like, I've got a bigger plan at stake. Y' all are about to blow our cover. I don't know what the is going on. [00:54:20] Speaker B: Right? [00:54:22] Speaker A: So anyway, everybody goes back to bed. Everybody's like, you know, asleep. There is a moment there too. I should say this in. In between all of this stuff, what's. When it happens isn't. I'm not particularly sure, but Rhysand does show a moment of vulnerability by coming in her cell one night and basically being like. Like, I'm a man in the boudoir. [00:54:40] Speaker B: Right? Right. He's like. He's like, I've had you do it for 50, 50 years. [00:54:46] Speaker A: You don't even know what I've had to do to like, protect my court. She's like, protect what? The. The dogs of hell. She's like, thinking, like, why would you do this? He's like, I've had to do things you wouldn't even believe. And he's like, I. I've been punished specifically in this way because my. My dad killed. [00:55:03] Speaker B: Well, yeah, that. [00:55:04] Speaker A: The. [00:55:04] Speaker B: Oh, okay. His. Tamlin. [00:55:06] Speaker A: Tamlin's dad, who Amarantha really likes. [00:55:09] Speaker B: Right. They were slave owners. [00:55:10] Speaker A: And so basically, this is kind of the specific punishment that Amarantha chose for. For Rhysand. [00:55:16] Speaker B: Well, and he also said. He said I paid for going to calamine. [00:55:21] Speaker A: Yeah. And so in that particular moment, what is interesting to me, she says something like, how do you get out of here? Because everybody else doesn't have the, like, pass to come and go, right? Or at least what she's seen. And he looks her up and down and he says, I had my reasons, you know, which. To read that line over after having read the series up to present day is just like, so. [00:55:46] Speaker B: I know, I know. It's like, yeah, you did. [00:55:48] Speaker A: Yeah, you did have your reasons. [00:55:49] Speaker B: Yeah, you did have your reasons. [00:55:51] Speaker A: Love that, Brian. [00:55:52] Speaker B: She's just a idiot. She's like, oh, what, Tamlin? [00:55:56] Speaker A: Yeah, I'd be so sick of it. So anyway, the next day, the sun rises, right? [00:56:02] Speaker B: Rises. [00:56:03] Speaker A: It is the day of the third trial, and seems like it's gonna go pretty straightforward. I mean, she's like, I'm gonna die today, so let me just make my peace with God. [00:56:13] Speaker B: Sure, I'm gone. Yeah. [00:56:14] Speaker A: She's like, I kissed my man last night. He didn't do too much other than that to save me, but I'll just, you know, I'll. I can. I can die happy with that, I guess, just, you know, being happy with the bare minimum. [00:56:25] Speaker B: Well, you know, what she said was that at this time when she was like. Like, you know, they came in that. I don't think it was the throne room of some other room. And basically she was like, oh. Amarantha was like, any last words? And she's like, I love you, Tamlin. He doesn't even look at her. [00:56:41] Speaker A: He doesn't even look at her. Jurian's eyes rolling around in the. [00:56:46] Speaker B: I'm a human. I made a couple mistakes you should learn from. [00:56:53] Speaker A: He's like, please, in my. Save me from this prison. So anyway, okay, so this trial comes along. Amarantha is just so tickled because she's like, I already know how this is going to end. It's gonna be a bloodbath. All these people, their souls are going to belong to me. Nobody's getting out of here. Whatever and so what should the last trial be? But three people are marched into the room, the throne room, and they are unmasked and found to be Faye, just at random, essentially chosen to be sacrificed. [00:57:30] Speaker B: One of them, like, as, Like a young boy. [00:57:32] Speaker A: Yeah, one's a young boy. Yeah. And yeah, he belongs to like the summer court or something. He looks like maybe he belongs to summer court. [00:57:39] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:57:39] Speaker A: So anyway, the deal is that she has to stab each one of them in the heart just to kind of show her, like, you know, love and loyalty to Tamlin. So she doesn't want to do this. She. I. I forgot that she did it. I thought that like, something was like she was going to stop her. No, our girl, like, pierces straight through the heart. So there's a woman at first, she goes up, she. [00:58:00] Speaker B: No, no, no. The first was the first boy. And the boy was like, ple. Like begging. [00:58:04] Speaker A: That's right. [00:58:05] Speaker B: That's terrible. [00:58:05] Speaker A: I know. He was begging. Yeah. Please don't. Please don't. Anyway, she does it. [00:58:10] Speaker B: She's like, no, no, she doesn't. [00:58:12] Speaker A: And Pamela's still not looking at me. No, he's still not looking. But you know what? Maybe the next one will really get him. And so when that young boy dies, there's like a. There. Somebody makes a noise right in the crowd. [00:58:25] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. Cuz they're. It was family or something. Yes. [00:58:28] Speaker A: But I think later on somebody thinks that, like, there was something going on with the summer court. Right. Or like maybe there was some plan. That was maybe. [00:58:37] Speaker B: Yeah, no, that was before. That was before when Rhysand there was like somebody who tried to run away from the summer court. Yeah, that was the whole thing. [00:58:44] Speaker A: Okay. [00:58:45] Speaker B: But you know what was crazy about the, like, her killing these people is that then her thought was like, wait, will Tamlin still love me? [00:58:54] Speaker A: Oh my God. Help me, Jesus. Oh my God. So the next one, she. You know, there's like this woman that's like basically praying. She's like stealing herself for the inevitable. Feyre, like, basically knives her through the chest and she's like, I feel so far for myself. [00:59:10] Speaker B: I know you. She's like, God, what has happened to me? [00:59:14] Speaker A: Yeah, she's like, full depression mode. So then she's like, tamlin, does this impress you now? You know that's what she's thinking. Like, yeah, this has to impress him. [00:59:22] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:59:23] Speaker A: They unveil the last person, who should it be but Tamlin? [00:59:26] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:59:27] Speaker A: Which. The way he's been acting, she could [00:59:29] Speaker B: have just taken that thing and. [00:59:30] Speaker A: Yeah, he deserves to get shanked. [00:59:32] Speaker B: Cut my losses, you know? [00:59:34] Speaker A: Yeah. She doesn't want to do it. [00:59:36] Speaker B: No. [00:59:36] Speaker A: She's obviously, like, still in love with her. Yep. I'm between the rock and the hard place. I kill this man, I never get to see him again. Everybody else goes free, or I don't do this, we all die. [00:59:46] Speaker B: Like, yeah. [00:59:47] Speaker A: What's going to happen? [00:59:48] Speaker B: So she sits there. [00:59:49] Speaker A: Yes. She sits here. She starts chewing things over in her mind. She then realizes that, you know, he's basically the Tin man and the wizard. [01:00:01] Speaker B: He's the Tin Man. He is the Tin Man. [01:00:04] Speaker A: He has no heart in its place as a stone. [01:00:07] Speaker B: Also, like, how did she not think about this before? If somebody. They're fairies, Right. And so, like, anything could be. Anything could be true. [01:00:15] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:00:15] Speaker B: And she didn't think about the fact that she heard multiple people say, he's got a heart of stone. Like, wouldn't she be like, I'm going. I'm going to. I'm going to leave my family to save this man. And I'm not thinking about the fact that he doesn't actually love me, because he does. He has a heart of stone. [01:00:33] Speaker A: That should have been her first clue that he didn't like her. He doesn't have the capacity to like you. [01:00:38] Speaker B: He is not capable. [01:00:42] Speaker A: So anyway, it's like they both kind of connect. In that moment of knowing that, she recognizes that. She knows that his heart's stone. She picks up the sword, she, like, rams it into his chest. Obviously, the. The. You know, it doesn't go through. It hits stone. [01:00:55] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:00:56] Speaker A: And to turn around. [01:01:02] Speaker B: Right. [01:01:02] Speaker A: Like, Amarantha's like, I'm not honoring this. [01:01:04] Speaker B: Yeah. She's like, I didn't say immediately. You know, I. Like, I. I basically said, like, if you sell the brittle, I'll immediately do it. [01:01:12] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:01:13] Speaker B: But, you know, if you've. [01:01:15] Speaker A: Whatever. [01:01:15] Speaker B: Won the trials, I can do it whenever. Like, wait till the end of your life. Yeah. [01:01:21] Speaker A: And so is it at that point then, that she solves the riddle, or does the. The hooting and hollering start? [01:01:27] Speaker B: So I think hooten and holler. So basically, she starts. She's like, well, I'm gonna kill you. Amarantha is like, well, I'm gonna kill you. And so she starts, like, throwing her around. [01:01:36] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:01:37] Speaker B: And then Rhysand, of course, is like, you know, yelling her name and trying to save her. [01:01:42] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:01:42] Speaker B: And then. And then she starts throwing Rhysand around. [01:01:45] Speaker A: Yes. [01:01:46] Speaker B: And then, I don't know. [01:01:47] Speaker A: Meanwhile, Tamlin's just standing there. [01:01:49] Speaker B: Meanwhile, Tamlin is like, you know, he's like, oh, my God, I was cut a little bit, you know, and. [01:01:56] Speaker A: Does anybody have a band aid? [01:01:59] Speaker B: He's just watching her throw them around. Yeah. [01:02:01] Speaker A: Like a rag doll. He doesn't. He doesn't give a fuck. These two are in the arena. [01:02:04] Speaker B: He doesn't give a fuck. And he. Anyway, so then she, I think, realizes that the answer is love. And so then what happens to. Oh, and then Tamlin basically loses the mask, gets his powers back, and then, like, rages and, like, rips out about Amaranthus. [01:02:28] Speaker A: Yeah, basically. I was just trying to remember when it is that she, like, revealed her knowing the answer to the. To the riddle, I think, because it stops. It stops. Amarantha's like warpath. Being on a warpath. [01:02:39] Speaker B: Yeah. So basically, like, right before she, like, kind of dies, you know, she says [01:02:45] Speaker A: it's right before Amarantha breaks her neck. [01:02:47] Speaker B: Right when she. Yeah, she says love. And then basically. I don't know. Yeah, and then I don't know understand where. Who did all this, like, politicking to have all the other High lords, like, give her magic? I don't know why that happened. [01:03:01] Speaker A: Well, it seems like something that they've done before in the past. Oh, maybe it's like something like. It's a little bit like a medal of Valor, basically, that they all kind of agree on because Rhysand said something like, we gave you something that we've only done a few times before. [01:03:14] Speaker B: Okay. [01:03:14] Speaker A: So I really want to know who else they've kind of given it to, to be honest. [01:03:18] Speaker B: So this is like the. Yeah. The one thing they kind of. Of are united. [01:03:21] Speaker A: Yeah. That they're united on is somebody that, like, you know, really kind of sacrifices themselves for the good of, you know, all the kingdoms. Then basically, they all kind of. So anyway, everybody basically gives a kernel of themselves to their magic. Yeah, yeah. The kernel of their magic to Feyre. She comes back to life and she's Fay. [01:03:40] Speaker B: She's Fay. She's high Fae and good for her. Her fingers are longer. That's always weird. [01:03:45] Speaker A: Skin glowing, think. [01:03:46] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. Her, like, she's taller. It's weird. Yeah. [01:03:51] Speaker A: And so what does she do with this new body? Goes upstairs with Tamlin, gets in the sack. [01:03:56] Speaker B: I mean, I swear to God, you [01:03:58] Speaker A: should have seen that coming. She said, the minute I can get my hands on the. [01:04:01] Speaker B: Oh, my God. [01:04:02] Speaker A: So they go up there and they have this like, I guess, explosive sex after a massive blood bath. Meanwhile, their people are, like, fleeing from under the mountain, right. [01:04:12] Speaker B: And they're just staying there for the night. They're like, all right, we can. Where people are like, we've been there for 50 years. [01:04:19] Speaker A: I haven't seen the light of day. [01:04:22] Speaker B: Rhysand's like, I'm getting the out of here. [01:04:23] Speaker A: Rhysand's like, it's mentioned that his skin is pale and. Yeah, I think he might naturally have a tear. [01:04:30] Speaker B: He's like, I need to go get some color. [01:04:32] Speaker A: What the hell? Where did Rhysand stay overnight? Because, you know, he flew out. Yes, he flew up. [01:04:35] Speaker B: I bet he probably left and then came back. [01:04:37] Speaker A: Back? [01:04:38] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:04:39] Speaker A: Where do you think he went? [01:04:40] Speaker B: I don't know. Maybe like, you know, I don't know how far they can fly, but, like, maybe he. He left and came back. [01:04:47] Speaker A: Yeah, he, like, went to, like, a pub somewhere. And Rhysand's standing there in like, his, you know, nice black tailored suit. He's like, I'm about to take off. [01:05:52] Speaker B: He's like, it's been nice, you know? [01:05:56] Speaker A: Well, according to you, after. He's like, been at the pub all night. [01:05:59] Speaker B: He also goes. She's like, well, I guess I'll see you. He's like, that don't sit well in my spirit. He's like, after everything that you get, we could have gotten out of here a week ago if you would have known how to. What's going on. [01:06:25] Speaker B: Also, like, if you would have been able to solve that puzzle. Like, everybody else knew. They just couldn't tell her. [01:06:32] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:06:32] Speaker B: So basically, like, they've been waiting for three months to be like, figure it out, Feyre. [01:06:37] Speaker A: Yeah, they just been looking at her like, we ain't never getting out of Here. So anyway, they're standing there talking, and she's like, you know, I just feel like, you know, I'm just. I'm. I'm turning cold because of all of this. [01:06:52] Speaker B: Oh, right. [01:06:54] Speaker A: Yeah. And he's like, be glad for your human heart. It keeps you, like, you know, connected to humanity. Blah, blah, blah, whatever. And then he basically, like, takes his wings out, you know, his bat wings. And he almost takes off her flight. He turns to her, he bends at the waist, and then all of a sudden, his head snaps up. He looks at her very weird. He stumbles backwards. She's like, what the is going on? [01:07:15] Speaker B: Stumbling. [01:07:16] Speaker A: He disappears. Yeah, he just disappears. We don't know what's going on. It was very out of character for our man Re Sand. Very, very calm, cool and collected. His eyes were wide, his nostrils flared, and he just fell into oblivion. [01:07:27] Speaker B: We don't even know. [01:07:28] Speaker A: Can't wait to hear what happens next. But meanwhile, Tamlin's downstairs going, hurry the up. [01:07:39] Speaker B: I'm awake now. Expect expectations. [01:07:43] Speaker A: She runs down there as fast as she can. [01:07:46] Speaker B: Sorry. Sorry. I was. I was a minute late. [01:07:48] Speaker A: When we get off this microphone, we really need to talk about what was going on in your love life. We will not be having that ever again. So, yeah, yeah, that's it, everybody. [01:08:03] Speaker B: Then they go back to the spring. [01:08:04] Speaker A: They go back to the spring court, I wish we could say, and live happily ever after, but it's not sure. [01:08:16] Speaker A: Do you need. Do we need to call a shelter? [01:08:18] Speaker B: Seriously, You've been there a lot. You might need some counseling. [01:08:24] Speaker A: And Tamlin's like, best I can offer is watercolors. [01:08:27] Speaker B: Huh? Tam was like, yeah, get right back in there and paint. [01:08:30] Speaker A: Where is Lucian? [01:08:31] Speaker B: Where is Lucian? Honestly? Yeah, because his. He's not with his family. [01:08:35] Speaker A: No. Yeah, we did see his mom. His mom made an appearance. [01:08:38] Speaker B: His mom? Yeah. And I think his mom loves him. Yeah. But, you know. [01:08:43] Speaker A: You know, she's living in that house with all those men. She's trapped, and her husband's abusive, so she's just, you know, she's trying to do the best she can where she can. [01:08:51] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, also Tamlin and Lucia and kind of killed a couple of her other sons, so that wasn't. Probably wasn't great. I don't know what's going on. [01:09:00] Speaker A: I mean, everybody just needs to get it together. Put the gun in the holster. [01:09:06] Speaker B: Just. Holster It. [01:09:07] Speaker A: Let's sort this out also. Okay. Where is Lucian? Also, where the. Is Jurian? [01:09:14] Speaker B: Yeah, because they said that he was gone. Where is he? [01:09:23] Speaker A: He is sitting here thinking about in all the hooting and hollering and all the, like, fighting somebody. Jurian is in that ring setting big. I just hold up. If somebody ends it that. Right? [01:09:41] Speaker B: I know he's like, this is the most fun I've had in 50 years. But, I mean, if somebody wants to stab me, go ahead. [01:09:49] Speaker A: Somebody, like, at the end of it, he's on this dead woman's finger, and he's like. Then somebody comes and, like, rips him. [01:09:55] Speaker B: He's like. [01:09:59] Speaker A: And they cart him off somewhere. Knows where he goes. Oh, my God. God. [01:10:06] Speaker B: Oh, my God. Can you imagine? Oh, poor Jerryan. [01:10:10] Speaker A: We need to have, like, a. There needs to be, like, a side story of Juris. Like, [01:10:16] Speaker B: you know what I will say, though? I think Amarantha, like, she. You know, that was pretty up what Jurian did. [01:10:24] Speaker A: Yeah, totally. [01:10:25] Speaker B: You know, that was pretty. I mean, I don't know if I would do what everything else she did, but, like, I would be pretty pissed. [01:10:30] Speaker A: Oh, God. Yeah. [01:10:31] Speaker B: Yeah.
